August - Back to School
This unit will focus on helping our students transition successfully between home and school. Whether a
new student or one that is returning, it is our hope that each child quickly becomes comfortable within our preschool setting and feels secure with all the new people, places, and activities in his/her life.
Our Early Childhood program utilizes a Positive Behavioral Support system to teach our young students social and self management skills that are developmentally appropriate for the preschool years. In these beginning days of school, the children will be learning about what it means to be ready to learn, how to
be a friend, and how to be safe at school.
The learning goals for this unit reflect the lens of our Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards and are defined below. We have found that organizing our teaching and learning through a concept web really supports our collaboration and helps us be more intentional in developing high value activities that promote learning.
