Fire Fighting Dramatic Play
Using foam blocks and plexiglass walls, the children constructed buildings at the media bin. Squirt bottles were used to put out fires!
Play Dough Center
Earlier in the year, our play dough activities focused on using tools to shape dough (rolling pins, plastic knives, stampers, cookie cutters, etc). This month, we encouraged the children to shape dough using just fingers/hands to create numbers and shapes by molding to printed templates. The 911 activity promoted lots of conversation and practice with emergency concepts.

To increase opportunities for creativity and cooperation, a new roadway construction set was introduced this month. The flexible track had hundreds of pieces! Assembly required tremendous focus and persistence but the great result was worth the effort!
Here, the children used magnifying glasses to identify miniature pictures. We also set up an IPad activity in which the children followed a set of 3 clues to photograph a mystery item. Each day, we reviewed the photos to analyze whether or not the photos matched the clues. This gave the children lots of experience in managing the IPad camera feature all by themselves.
